earring redo

I had made a pair of earrings a little over a year ago (see from this post) that I just didn't like enough to wear. The pieces I used with it just weren't finished enough for me.

I decided to redo them since I love the vintage daisy piece:

What do ya think?

You may see a lot of redos in the next months. I've started getting out my old stuff and am super bored with most of it!
Stay tuned!

halloween / fall crafts

I made a couple fun things off of pintrest today!

I couldn't find a very cute doily for this, but I think it's still cute:

Used a bunch of fabric I have had forever to make this:

I really like how this turned out!

vintage button ring

I've been gone for a while, I know.
It's been very difficult to get inspired lately.
Haven't narrowed down exactly why...
But today, I decided it was time to be creative!

I took a little trip to the bead shop and picked up a few things.
When I came home I wanted to find something fun to do with the brass blank ring I found.
Last time my mom was in Nebraska, she brought home a tin full of vintage buttons that belonged to my great-aunt.
I decided to use this awesome rose glitter-flecked button!

(My photos are from my phone. Since I now have an app on my phone that does the neato filters for me (even though the resolution is terrible), it's just so much less work and makes me more apt to post more often; taking and editing photos is time consuming)

It's kinda hard to see how pretty the button is in the pictures, but you can get the idea:

harry potter

I am mildly obsessed with Harry Potter, both the books and movies. (shhhh...don't tell)
I am not really the crazy fan type that has memorabilia up the wazzo and goes to the midnight showings (my obsession is mostly limited to reading the books and watch the movies constantly)...

But, I couldn't resist making something that reminds me of the story.
I made the snitch necklace a while back, but never posted it.
Thought it was now or never:

And I've painted my nails maroon to show some Gryffindor spirit for tomorrow...

I'm going to the movie tomorrow afternoon with my hubby, brother, and papa.

Maybe this fall I'll get my scarf made finally....

fabric recycle

It's been a while since I've posted. I really haven't made much in the last two months. But I'm trying to get my butt back in gear in the creativity department. Here are some of the first things I've been inspired to make recently: fabric necklaces!

They're all made from sashes I didn't wear from dresses I own.

Repurpose x Four

I've been in possession of my dad's old washers for a while but had only made that pair of earrings with them. I'm enjoying venturing out into some new looks recently and had some more fun with them:

The rest of my pieces were made out of copper pieces from my friend Alisa's metalworking class. She wasn't going to do anything with it and graciously gave it to me. Needless to say, I had a blast! Thanks again, Alisa!

The texture on the little pieces was something Alisa had done already, so I cut out the drop shape there and in some raw copper pieces, hammered them to get some texture, and added patina to make them look aged:

These had been domed and I flatten them back out again, added patina and an antique piece:

Alisa had domed these pieces of copper, applied black enamel to them, and had two holes in each and made them into little creatures with eyes. I look the eye parts out, punched lots more holes in them and connected them with jump rings and attached it all to some copper wire:

I've been busy!

Since my voice has been pretty silent in the blogging world lately, I thought I'd post an explosion of pieces that I've been making over the past month or so for my work. We were asked to make jewelry for a local women's clothing store in town. Therefore, some of these pieces aren't my normal style, nor would I wear them. But, still fun, nonetheless. It was fun to get a chance to work with materials I can't afford myself.
